„Sevilla“ strategist Unai Emery warned the club's players that they must maintain their current good form if they want to secure the top spot in Group G of the UEFA Europa League.
The Spanish team currently leads among four teams after yesterday's 3-1 victory against Liege's „Standard“. Rotterdam's „Feyenoord“ trails the leaders by two points, while the Belgian club and „Rijeka“ are four points behind.
Emery, who led his team to victory in last year's tournament final, says that the first place in the group is important.
„I have already mentioned that the group is very tight,“ said the coach after the match. „Standard improved their game. Before tonight, they had kept a clean sheet four times in a row.“
„We deserved the 3-1 victory. The match was very fast-paced and intense. Both the team and the players individually contributed to that. It's exciting.“
„Securing the top spot is important, but nothing is clear in the group yet. I was most pleased with the high quality of play. We never relaxed.“
„We took a step forward. We had drawn with Rijeka and Standard before, so we needed to remind ourselves that we aim to reach the top of the group.“
