On last night, UEFA Europa League final was played, winners of which for the first time secured a spot in the Champions League.
At the Warsaw stadium, accommodating 60 thousand spectators, surprises met one after another, with teams like Amsterdam's "Ajax" and "Napoli" eliminating Dnipro from Dnepropetrovsk and defending champions "Sevilla", who in the semifinal left no hope for Fiorentina from Florence.
The first half was full of action - just 7 minutes after a successful pass by Matheus, Nikola Kalinic scored. However, the happiness of the Ukrainians did not last long, as "Sevilla" did not panic and, on the contrary, began to press the opponents.
In the 28th minute after a small altercation in the penalty area, Grzegorz Krychowiak sent the ball into the net, and just three minutes later, one-on-one against the goalkeeper and overcoming him, Spaniards took the lead with a goal from Carlos Bacca.
It seemed that the course of the game would turn in favor of the favorites, but just before the referee's whistle, Ruslan Rotan restored the balance with a great penalty shot.
After the break, Unai Emery's pupils were slightly more active and continued to push forward, their offensive play eventually paid off - the second goal by Carlos Bacca in the 73rd minute became decisive.
Sevilla is the first team to win the Europa League four times. Not only that, they managed to do it twice in a row, which is also the only case since the tournament is no longer named the UEFA Cup.
