The 48-year-old strategist from Argentina started coaching "Sevilla" only last summer, but due to not very good results, he was dismissed right before the holiday marathon.
The club's decision was determined only by the fact that the Andalusian team is not currently successful in playing in the Spanish league - in the last three matches, they suffered two painful losses and are in fifth place.
"Sevilla" is still competing in both the King's Cup and the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, but that did not secure the coach's position in the club.
This season, E. Berizzo had to fight not only for his job at "Sevilla" but also for his life - about a month ago, the strategist was diagnosed with prostate cancer, but the operation was successful and now the Argentine feels well.
"Sevilla" stated on their official website that the announcement of a new coach will be made during the winter transfer window.
