"Liverpool's defender Steve Finnan should extend his contract with the club after the Champions League final. The Irishman is one of the five players to whom head coach Rafa Benitez has offered contract extensions.
"I am very happy and would like to stay here as long as possible, as long as I can," said S. Finnan. "If things go well, I could end my career here and we can reach an agreement on that."
"First of all, we have to win the finals, and then we will see what happens. But there is no doubt that I want to stay here. The club has made great progress over the past three years," the Irishman said.
As it is said, for the past two seasons, Liverpool has been thinking about acquiring a new defender, but S. Finnan says he would be happy with the competition.
"We have been linked to the acquisition of more than one new player, not just playing in my position. With the change in ownership, the club now has money - I am sure we will try to acquire someone like Daniel Alves," the defender speculated about the team's plans.
"All you can do is focus on your work and do the best you can," concluded S. Finnan."
