S.Gerrard: "We were too fluid on the pitch and missed a goal again"

On Wednesday in the second round of the Champions League matches, "Liverpool" lost 0-1 to the Swiss club "Basel". After the defeat, manager Brendan Rodgers and captain Steven Gerrard did not hold back their criticism towards their team.

According to S. Gerrard, the owners simply wanted the victory more:

"They wanted to win more and that is very disappointing. We didn't deserve anything. We were too fluid in the field and once again missed the goal."

Brendan Rodgers was particularly unhappy with the team's defense:

"It seems that we constantly analyze defensive tactics, but it's not visible on the field. The essence of defense is the first contact, but we still can't implement it."

The new club acquisition Mario Balotelli has scored one goal in seven matches. In Wednesday's match, he managed to take one shot on goal.

The coach hopes that the Italian will improve his performance:

"He works hard, but he needs to do more. He will be judged by what he creates and how many goals he scores, but he is not scoring. The boy is trying, he is working hard."
