Donetsk's "Shakhtar" club announced that one of the South American citizens who were afraid to return to Ukraine after the downing of the Malaysian plane by terrorists has already joined the team. 21-year-old Brazilian Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos, or simply Fred, has already joined the Ukrainian team and will soon introduce himself along with Ismaily.
In the Ukrainian football season that started on Wednesday, "Shakhtar" and the legionnaires playing important roles in the team defeated Kiev's "Dynamo" 2-0 in the Super Cup final. The club also announced that they will play their home games in Lviv in the near future.
"Now we are trying to get them back. Everything is fine in Ukraine, you can play football here, live a normal life. Many people are still afraid. It is important for us to put everything in order," said manager Sergey Palkin.
According to the club, 24-year-old Brazilian Ismaily will soon join his friends in the team, but Douglas Costa, Alex Teixeira, Dentinho, and Facundo Ferreyra still refuse to return to Ukraine.
The club, which became the country's champion last year, will compete in the UEFA Champions League tournament in the upcoming season.
