Showdown between Kauno Žalgiris and VIP teams in the futsal cup quarterfinals

“Kauno Žalgiris” hall football team will meet Mažeikiai VIP in the futsal cup quarterfinals. The clash between the teams will take place this Wednesday, February 7, at 20:30 in Vieksniai, where the teams will compete for a spot in the cup semifinals.

In the round of 16 duel, the Žalgiris team defeated Jonava “Vikings” with a secure result of 9:2. Meanwhile, Mažeikiai VIP team triumphed over “Kėdainiai United” in the round of 16.

“We expect a tough battle in the upcoming matches against our opponents. We will play in the VIP home arena, where the rivals will have the support of their loyal fans, which will make it easier for us,” - said long-time player of “Kaunas Žalgiris” Lukas Sendžikas about the upcoming match.

Mažeikiai VIP is the only team that defeated “Kaunas Žalgiris” in this year's Futsal A League regular season. In the duel with the Mažeikiai team, the Kaunas team suffered their first defeat in the regular season after almost four years with a score of 2:3.

“Our approach to the Mažeikiai team has always been similar. We know that the matches are not always easy and we try to be as motivated as possible for each game. We really need motivation before this match, as we lost the last mutual games,” said L. Sendžikas. “I think our main strengths against VIP are the high pace of the game and the individual skill of the players. Whether we will be able to utilize these qualities will be shown by the opponents' resistance during the quarterfinals.”
