At the beginning of the week, parting ways with head coach Vytautas Jančiauskas, they already have a new coach. As expected, Saulius Vertelis was appointed today.
The 43-year-old Saulius Vertelis, who has been coaching the "Mažeikiai" team and the Lithuania U-19 national team so far, has already taken over the coaching duties for "Šiauliai".
S.Vertelis became a Lithuanian champion in 1994 as a coach with Mažeikiai's "Romar", and back in 1979 he became a champion as a player with Mažeikiai's "Atmosfera".
Temporarily, both "Šiauliai" coaches - S.Vertelis and his assistant Rytis Tavoras - will also work with the "Šiauliai-2" team. It should be revealed soon who will become the assistant coaches.
