"Real" Madrid club rejected a €40 million offer for midfielder Sami Khedira on the last day of the summer transfer window.

"Manchester United", who were actively looking for a midfielder on September 2, managed to attract "Everton" midfielder Marouane Fellaini, but negotiations for "Athletic Bilbao" midfielder Ander Herrera and the royal club's midfielder S. Khedira were unsuccessful.

"The club rejected the offer, so everything is finished. There was no need to continue negotiations. I spoke to Carlo Ancelotti, so I knew I would be playing for the "Real" team this season," the German said.

The player was also asked about his former teammate in the club Mesut Özil: "Personally, I am sorry that he is leaving. It is a big loss because Mesut can determine a lot on the pitch."

"I knew about it two or three days ago, so it was not a surprise to me," S. Khedira said.
