Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explained why he allowed Alexis Sanchez to leave for Inter Milan.
On Thursday, the Chilean national team forward officially joined the team from the fashion capital. Manchester United has not said a final goodbye to Alexis yet - he has been loaned out until the end of the season.
"Alexis needed to leave. He was here for 18 months, but neither us nor him got what we wanted. He now needs a fresh start, to rediscover himself, play regularly and score goals. I think this deal will benefit all of us.
Furthermore, in the coming weeks we can watch him play alongside Lukaku.
I believe he will strengthen Inter. We needed to make this decision because I trust Martial, Rashford, and Greenwood in the central attacking position.
In the winger position, we have Chong, James, and Pereira, so we certainly have no shortage of options. I want the young players to start feeling more pressure and responsibility, and be ready to play five consecutive matches," Solskjaer said before the match against Southampton.
