Representing "Manchester United" for almost a decade, Antonio Valencia will open a new chapter in his career after the season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the manager of the "Red Devils," stated that the club will not begin negotiations for a new contract with the Ecuadorian, who will become a free agent in the summer.
A. Valencia has hardly played this season due to various injuries. Solskjaer is still uncertain about when the defender will be able to return to the field.
"Today is the last training before the upcoming match. We don't want to risk it, so maybe Antonio needs a few more training sessions to be able to play. He is still not 100% ready," said the Norwegian.
Later, the discussion turned to the defender's future at the club: "His career at 'Man Utd' has been fantastic. He is one of the few Premier League champions we still have in the squad. However, I'm not sure if Antonio and the club will agree on a new contract.
It will all depend on how Antonio will perform in returning to the field in the next few months. He is a great captain, dedicated to this club, so we hope he will return to the field and we can see what more he can give us."
A. Valencia was acquired by "Man Utd" from "Wigan Athletic" in 2009. Over almost ten years, the Ecuadorian played 338 matches and scored 25 goals.
