The new head coach of the South Korean national team is Pim Verbeek, who replaced fellow countryman Dick Advocaat in this position.

Dick Advocaat left the position of head coach of the South Korean national team after the World Cup, in which they withdrew after finishing third in Group D. Immediately after that, it was officially announced that the Dutchman would coach Zenit St. Petersburg.

Pim Verbeek had been working as an assistant to Dick Advocaat in the South Korean national team.

"Until 2010, it is important to reduce the gap between the national championship and the national team," said 50-year-old Pim Verbeek at a press conference.

Pim Verbeek's first goal is to win the 2007 Asian Cup and perform well in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, with the main goal being to reach the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup.
