The London Chelsea team suffered an unexpected blow at Stamford Bridge stadium. Frank Lampard's team fell 0:2 against Southampton team fighting for survival.
Despite winning the London derby over the weekend, Chelsea failed to please their fans once again, even though they were playing against a considerably weaker opponent.
In the 31st minute, Michael Obafemi put Southampton ahead, and Nathan Redmond secured the victory in the middle of the second half.
After the defeat, Chelsea remains in fourth position, but their advantage over Tottenham has again shrunk to three points.

The first half did not go according to ideal scenario for Arteta - Bournemouth's Dan Gosling scored in the 35th minute. However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored in the 63rd minute to save the guests from defeat.
Arsenal, who played to a draw for the second consecutive time, remains in 11th place. They are only 6 points away from the relegation zone.
Carlo Ancelotti's debut was much more successful. Under his command, Everton beat Burnley with a narrow margin. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the winning goal at the end of the match.
The remaining matches ended with wins for Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, and a draw between Sheffield United and Watford.
