Former world and European champions have chosen a new coach - 49-year-old Julen Lopetegui will lead the Spanish national team.
The former goalkeeper of Madrid's "Real" and "Barcelona" will replace Vicente Del Bosque, who resigned from the national team. After the unsuccessful European Championship, the longtime Spanish coach decided to hand over the reins of the national team to another strategist.
J. Lopetegui led the Portuguese team "Porto" for the last two seasons, but was fired in early 2016. Some time ago, the specialist coached the second team of "Real" and "Rayo Vallecano" in Spain.
Working with the national team is also not new to this coach. From 2010 to 2014, J. Lopetegui coached various age groups of the Spanish national team. Both with the Under-19s and the U-21 Spanish national teams, the coach has become a European champion.
J. Lopetegui will make his debut at the helm of the Spanish national team on the 1st of September, when they will play a friendly match against Belgium.
