The Spanish national team started the European Football Championship very successfully.

In the first match, the Spaniards comfortably defeated the Croats 3-0.

The turning point of the match came in the middle of the first half, when Alvaro Morata scored the first goal in the 29th minute. Just three minutes later, Fabian Ruiz doubled Spain's lead.

Croatia received another painful blow just before the end of the first half from Dani Carvajal.

In the 80th minute, the Croats had a chance to score a consolation goal from the penalty spot, but Bruno Petković failed to convert. Although the forward sent the ball into the net after the missed penalty, the goal was disallowed after a VAR review.
