Spanish football championship is suspended indefinitely

The Spanish Football Federation announced that as of May 16, the country's football championship is suspended indefinitely. The federation did not reach an agreement with the Spanish government regarding television broadcasting rights.

The government aims for half of the money from sold television broadcasting rights to be distributed among 20 league clubs.

Currently, the league leaders Real Madrid and Barcelona collect the majority of the income.

The championship will be stopped before the last round of the league.

It is also possible that the final of the Spanish Cup on May 30th may not take place.
