The Spanish national team is facing very important World Cup qualifying matches against the Italian team.
Julen Lopetegui's team, playing at home, has the same amount of points (16) as the visitors, so a victory could be very important in the fight for first place in Group G.
Before the match, the team's defender Sergio Ramos asked the fans gathering at the "Santiago Bernabeu" stadium not to boo his colleague Gerardo Pique, who belongs to the "Barcelona" club.
"It doesn't matter if it's him or another player, but footballers should always be respected. I ask the fans to support us, as a tough and intense match awaits. We want to perform as best as we can and play great games," said S. Ramos.
After a long break, the Spanish team invited veteran David Villa.
"Of course, it surprised all of us, but the striker deserves it," commented Ramos on the coach's decision. "He still has a young spirit in him and the player wants to score goals."
