Vilnius has signed a long-term cooperation agreement with one of the most famous football clubs in Russia - Moscow's Lokomotiv. The long-term agreement between "Vėtra" and "Lokomotiv" will be valid until 2011 with the right to extend it for an even longer period, it is based on the principles of equality, openness, recognition, and respect.

According to the capital club, the agreement between "Vėtra" and Moscow's "Lokomotiv" clubs aims to achieve better results in domestic and international competitions, improve the skills and qualifications of players and coaches, exchange players and experience on club infrastructure issues, improve the training system for young footballers, attract as many spectators as possible to the clubs' matches, develop and popularize football in Lithuania, Russia, and other countries, and promote the principle of "Fair Play" as envisaged by UEFA and FIFA.

According to the cooperation agreement between Vilnius' "Vėtra" and Moscow's "Lokomotiv" clubs, there will be player exchanges and tournaments involving the main and youth teams of "Vėtra" and "Lokomotiv," player, coach, and specialist internships will be organized, information will be exchanged on selection, infrastructure, and working with club fans. Charity and other types of matches are planned to promote football.
