Three unsuccessful matches series in the Lithuanian Football A League was successfully interrupted by Vilnius "Riteriai" coached by Aurelijus Skarbalius.
In the 9th round match in the capital, the hosts defeated the neighboring team of the tournament table, Kaunas "Stumbras", with a score of 3:0 (1:0).
At the beginning of the duel, both teams exchanged first strikes: the shot of the runaway Terem Moffi was blocked by Rodrigo Josviaki, and in the 11th minute goalkeeper Tomas Švedkauskas defended well against a dangerous attempt by Lucas Villela.
In the middle of the first half, the hosts played a more successful period, and Levan Macharashvili, who had been actively playing the game until then, was close to scoring. Once the Georgian legionnaire cleverly deceived his opponent, but missed the goal.
It already seemed that the first half would end without goals, but in the 40th minute, the Vilnius team managed to break through. After Mindaugas Grigaravicius' lifted corner kick, the central defender Ričardas Šveikauskas scored the second goal of the season with a header.
The second half was not short of events - even two players from both teams received red cards. In the 57th minute, "Riteriai" goalkeeper T. Švedkauskas was sent off for a last hope foul against Nasro Bouchareb, and just 5 minutes later, Matheus Bissi received a referee's sanction for a similar action against T. Moffi.
The hosts launched efforts to equalize the score, and "Riteriai" organized several dangerous counterattacks, two of which resulted in goals.
In the 73rd minute, T. Moffi, after a great breakthrough, successfully shot low and celebrated his fifth goal of the season.
In the 85th minute, Donatas Kazlauskas, who scored his second goal in the 2019 A League matches, helped seal the victory in these matches.
After this victory, "Riteriai" have 12 points in their account and still hold the fifth place in the tournament table, but are only 2 points behind the Vilnius team "Stumbras" sitting on the steps above.
