On Saturday, the 44th season of the Bundesliga ended, with "Stuttgart" team becoming champions for the fifth time in club history by defeating "Cottbus" 2-1 at home and securing the title.
The match didn't start as expected: "Cottbus" took the lead after about twenty minutes with a goal by S.Radu. However, "Stuttgart" needed only a few minutes to equalize the score, so the teams went into halftime tied.
A draw didn't guarantee the title for the "Stuttgart" team, so shortly after the break the hosts scored a winning goal and secured the champions' title.
Before the final round, the "Schalke" team still had hopes, starting their match against "Arminia" very successfully and taking a two-goal lead within fifteen minutes. However, during the remaining time of the match, "Schalke" not only failed to gain the required four-goal advantage, but also allowed the opponents to soften the result. Finishing the match with a result of 2-1, the Gelsenkirchen club finished in second place in the championship.
The "Hamburg" team managed to "sneak" into the Intertoto tournament, crushing "Aachen" 4-0 in the last season match and rising to seventh place. It is worth noting that for a large part of the season, the "Hamburg" team was at the bottom of the tournament table.
