In fourth place in the German championship, the club extended its contract with the head coach Armin Veh. According to the new contract, the German will coach the team until the summer of 2008.

Together with A. Vehu, his assistant Alfonsas Higlas also signed a new contract.

"The signatures were merely a formality," said Stuttgart's general manager Horst Heldtas. "Vehas and Higlas agreed to extend their contracts during the training camp in Dubai."

A. Vehas took over the reins of Stuttgart last summer, when he replaced the legendary coach, Italian Giovanni Trapattoni. Although initially the 45-year-old coach was introduced as "temporarily taking on duties", the excellent performance of the team under his guidance convinced the team leaders to sign a longer contract.

Stuttgart not only holds fourth place in the Bundesliga halfway through the season, but also reached the quarterfinals of the German Cup.
