Defender Eric Abidal successfully underwent a three-hour liver tumor removal operation. If there are no complications, the Frenchman will be discharged from the hospital next week.
The club once again emphasized in the statement the request to respect Abidal and his family's privacy and confidentiality.
Abidal moved to Barcelona in 2007 from Lyon, and previously represented his native country's teams Lille and Monaco.
