Marijampolės „Sūduva“ signed a contract for the 2019 season with Canadian national team striker Tosaint Ricketts. The 31-year-old, 183 cm tall footballer was born and raised in Edmonton, but sought his career abroad. T. Ricketts initially went to Chile, and started his professional career in 2009 in Finland at Myllykoski's „MyPa“ club. Later, the Canadian played for Timišoara's „Politehnica“ (Romania), Oslo's „Valerenga“, „Sandnes Ulf“ (both in Norway), „Bucaspor“, „Boluspor“ (both in Turkey) and Haifa's „Hapoel“ (Israel) teams, and in 2016 returned to his hometown's „Toronto FC“ team. In the Toronto team, T. Ricketts played 51 matches in 3 seasons, scoring 13 goals. In 2016, „Toronto FC“ reached the MLS final with the newcomer from „Sūduva“, where they experienced a loss after a penalty shootout, and in 2017 they took the final step - becoming champions. In 2018, „Toronto FC“ also reached the final of the CONCACAF Champions League, where they lost to the Mexican team „Guadalajara“ after a penalty shootout. Since 2011, T. Ricketts has been playing for the Canadian national team, scoring 16 goals in 59 matches. In „Sūduva“, the striker will wear the usual number 87 jersey.
