During Wednesday evening's "Carabao" Cup quarterfinal match, "Southampton" produced a surprise and defeated "Manchester City" 2-0 at home.
The "Saints" scored both of their goals in the first half. In the 23rd minute, Sekou Mara beat the opponents' goalkeeper after a pass from Lyanco.
Just 5 minutes later, the score became 2-0. Moussa Djenepo sent the ball into the net with a great shot from a distance.
The "Citizens" controlled the ball for the majority of the remaining match but failed to create many dangerous attacks, ultimately conceding an unexpected defeat. Interestingly, "City" did not register a single shot on target throughout the entire game.

Along with "Southampton" and "Nottingham Forest," "Newcastle" and "Man United" secured their places in the League Cup semifinals.
