Surprises in Spain: "Leganes" surpassed "Barcelona", while "Sevilla" crushed "Real"

Spain's "La Liga" championship saw four matches of the 6th round played on Wednesday.

A huge surprise was recorded in the province of Madrid, where "Leganes" hosted "Barcelona". In the second half, "Leganes" scored two goals in two minutes and sensationally defeated the Catalans with a score of 2:1.

Barcelona started the match well - in the 12th minute, Philippe Coutinho scored a powerful shot to put the Catalans ahead.

During the rest of the first half, "Barca" did not pose much of a threat to the opponent's goalkeeper, but in the second half, the team that was in last place until this round, "Leganes", showed their potential.

In the 52nd minute, Nabil El Zhar scored with a header to equalize the score, after a great pass from Jonathan Silva from the flank. Barcelona's problems did not end there and they conceded a sensational second goal almost in the next attack.

Gerard Pique clumsily played a ball into the penalty area, where the opposing player scored with one touch, putting Ter Stegen on the grass. Interestingly, it was Real Madrid's goalkeeper Oscar Rodriguez, who is on loan from the Real Madrid club, who punished "Barca".

Barcelona tried to equalize during the remaining time, but Leganes was not ready to let go of this historic chance and won their first victory against none other than the country's champion.

Barcelona's sporting form should not satisfy Ernesto Valverde - this defeat came after a draw with "Girona" over the weekend.

In other matches, "Villarreal" won 3-0 away against Bilbao "Athletic". An amazing goal in the 65th minute was scored by Pablo Fornals, with a shot from about 40 meters.

Barcelona failed to take advantage of the faltering Real Madrid team. Julen Lopetegui's team also suffered its first defeat in the Spanish football season.

The team from the Spanish capital was sent to the ropes by "Sevilla", who scored three goals against them in just 39 minutes. In the first half, the Andalusians completely dominated the field and already in the 21st minute had a two-goal advantage - both goals were scored by Andre Silva.

In the 39th minute, Wissam Ben Yedder scored the third goal, ending Real Madrid's suffering.

In the second half, Real Madrid had their chances and could have turned the game around, with the ball even hitting the back of the net at one point, but VAR disallowed Luka Modric's goal.

These were the first matches in which Real Madrid failed to score a goal. After unexpected failures from the country's leaders, Atletico Madrid returned to the title race - the gap now reduced to two points.
