Unpleasant suspicions regarding the national stadium in Vilnius seem to have been confirmed.
A couple of weeks ago, Vilnius City Council member Aleksandras Nemunaitis announced on the social network "Facebook" that former "BaltCap" partner Šarūnas Stepukonis, who was responsible for the national stadium project, lost more than 25 million euros in one online casino.
"Verslo žinios" reports that "BaltCap" moved quickly to take action.
The private equity fund manager "BaltCap" filed a lawsuit, seeking to recover 16.6 million euros from Šarūnas Stepukonis, the casino group "Olympic Casino Group Baltija," and its shareholder "OB Holding 1" in Estonia.
This amount may still change as further financial audits are being conducted.
The companies managed by the fund are seeking to recover the embezzled 16.6 million euros. They are trying to reclaim the lost assets from the defendants.
Š. Stepukonis is currently avoiding journalists and is not commenting on the situation.
