The team of the highest division in England is strengthening its lineup and has signed a contract with Swiss national team and club defender Bruno Berner.

As announced, the 29-year-old Swiss signed a contract for one and a half years with his new club. The financial terms of the transfer are not disclosed, but according to representatives of Blackburn, the transfer fee was not substantial.

The defender will not be able to help his team in the UEFA Europa League knockout stages, where Blackburn will face Bayer Leverkusen, as he has already played in the tournament representing Basel.

The player, born in Zurich, began his professional football career at his hometown club Grasshopper, where he spent five seasons. After that, Berner tried his luck in Germany, where he played for SC Freiburg, but did not establish himself there and returned to Switzerland after three years to continue representing Basel club.
