On Sunday evening, two World Cup qualifying matches were played. The first one took place between the Switzerland and Northern Ireland national teams.
Playing at home, Switzerland won the first match with a score of 1-0, so they were the clear favorites today. However, Martin O'Neill's team gave them a serious challenge.
Although Haris Seferovic could have scored for the hosts as early as the fifth minute, the Northern Irish did not allow the opponents to dominate. In the second half, Conoras Washington could have scored for the visitors.
However, the guests held up well and were unable to create more dangerous opportunities, so Switzerland's national team, with a draw, can rejoice in their ticket to Russia.
A few hours later, the Croatians joined them, playing against the Greek national team away.
In the first leg, Zlatko Dalic's team, who triumphed 4-1, immediately gave the initiative to the home team, but they did not practically create anything over 90 minutes and the match also ended goalless.
Results (aggregate score):
Switzerland 0 - 0 (1-0) Northern Ireland
Greece 0 - 0 (1-4) Croatia
