Swiss national team and French club "Lille" attacking midfielder Daniel Gygax will not be registered for the G group matches against South Korea.
The 24-year-old player injured his abdominal muscles in the match against Togo, and was substituted off after half-time.
"Today (Tuesday) he had an x-ray, which confirmed that he has a fairly serious injury," said team doctor Cuno Wetzel. "We are not sure if he will be able to recover, as the rehabilitation period could last about a week, and it is unknown if he will be able to help us in the next stage of the competition, of course, if we get there."
The Swiss national team is competing in Group G with France, South Korea, and Togo. Togo no longer has hopes of advancing to the next stage, while South Korea, Switzerland, and France are still fighting for first and second place in the group.
