Former Australian national team striker Tim Cahill claims that this year's "Golden Ball" belongs most to Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 34-year-old footballer started making changes last summer and went to play for Juventus in Turin. Despite the fact that the Portuguese is not the top scorer in Serie A, T. Cahill is convinced that this player has taken Juventus to a whole new level.
Until now, Lionel Messi is considered the favorite to win the Ballon d'Or, but the Australian has a different opinion.
"I choose Ronaldo for what he did this season with Juventus. I know that most people will not agree with that," said the recently retired Australian.
"He left Real Madrid, came to Turin and immediately made a huge impact on the Italian league. I have never seen a player who has given so much to clubs, like he did at United and Real."
"He did not win the Champions League this year, but he still has a huge impact on any club. Imagine another player who at his age could go to a new league and demonstrate such a game.
"I know people will not agree with me, but I simply appreciate his professionalism," added T. Cahill.
It will not be easy to surpass C. Ronaldo over L. Messi - the Argentine may potentially win two trophies this season and has scored 22 more goals than the Portuguese.
