T. Gumbelevičius has long linked the future with "Sūduva

Marijampolė's "Sūduva" has signed a long-term professional contract with 18-year-old defender Toms Gumbelevičius. This is the first professional footballer's contract.

The defender joined "Sūduva" before the 2023 season and played 13 matches (1007 minutes) in the A League. T. Gumbelevičius also stepped onto the field three more times (224 minutes) in the LFF Cup tournament.

"I am happy about the contract, I believe it is a sign that my efforts were noticed, I was trusted, and I am very grateful for that. It will also be an additional motivation to improve," said the footballer. "Last season at 'Sūduva' I got a lot of playing minutes and experience, I am very happy about that and I wish to have even more playing time this season. I hope to help the team achieve a higher position this season than last year."

The defender who moved to Marijampolė a year ago has already settled in and gotten used to the new city.

"I have already settled here, everyone is nice to me, I receive a lot of motivation, so it was not difficult to decide to stay here for a longer time," said T. Gumbelevičius.

"Sūduva" will start the 2024 "TOPsport A League" season on Friday (March 1) at 19:00 with a home match against "Šiauliai."
