Toni Kroos was chosen as the best German footballer of 2018.
The star of Madrid's "Real" club received 185 out of 475 votes cast by members of the German Sports Journalists Association.
Kroos' performance for both Real Madrid and the German national team in this year's World Cup was quite tragic - an early exit after the group stage. However, the German was a leader both for his club and the national team.
"It's a great award. It's definitely not easy to win it, especially when there are so many great footballers in the country," said the footballer.
The German won the UEFA Champions League last season with Real Madrid, which determined his triumph in these elections. Kroos has won three of these tournament trophies in Madrid over the past four years.
In the same voting, Jupp Heynckes, who has now ended his career for good, was elected as the best coach of the year.
