One of the most experienced referees in the English Premier League, Mike Dean, had a very difficult week. At first, during the match between Manchester United and Southampton, the referee incorrectly sent off the 'Saints' defender Jan Bednarek, and on Saturday, a mistaken red card was shown to West Ham United's midfielder Tomáš Souček. Both of these penalties for the players were later overturned, and M. Dean himself received threats from football fans and for this reason asked not to be assigned any matches approaching the weekend. This kind of fan behavior was responded to by T. Souček, who stood up to defend M. Dean for incorrectly sending him off. "No matter what decisions are made during matches, all of it should stay on the field. I am disappointed with the threats that M. Dean received, and I send him my support. There is no place for such things in football. All of that is now in the past and we need to focus on the remaining part of the season," the Czech wrote on his social media account.
