T. Tuchel: The drop of E. Cavani, Neymar and K. Mbappe helped the team

Paris Saint-Germain confidently started in the UEFA Champions League tournament, defeating Real Madrid 3-0 in the first group match at home.

After the match, Ligue 1 club coach Thomas Tuchel talked about the reasons for success.

"Perhaps the absence of E. Cavani, Neymar and K. Mbappe from the lineup helped the team.

It felt like there was less pressure, because everyone was curious how we would manage to win without these three footballers.

It could have helped because we were not the favorites of the match and some of the tension fell off the players' shoulders," said Tuchel.

PSG defender Thiago Silva said:

"We didn't want to send a message to anyone. We just controlled the game well, were properly prepared, strong and efficient."
