Former "Arsenal" and "Barcelona" player Thomas Vermaelen officially hung up his football boots. The 36-year-old center-back announced the end of his career on social media. The Belgian wrote: "I have decided to end my professional football career. I was very lucky to play for such amazing clubs and I am very grateful for that. Thank you for the support throughout my career." T. Vermaelen also announced that he will start a coaching career and will now be an assistant coach for the Belgian national team, joining forces with the legend Thierry Henry, who is already part of the staff at "Arsenal". Throughout his career, T. Vermaelen played for "Ajax", "Arsenal", "Barcelona", "RKC Waalwijk", "Roma", and "Vissel Kobe" clubs. At one point, the 36-year-old Belgian was also the captain of the "Arsenal" team and certainly left a mark on this "Premier League" club.
