During last summer, Belgian Thomas Vermaelen, who joined the team "Barcelona", has finished almost half a year of rehabilitation after surgery and is now able to play at full strength.
This was confirmed by the medical staff of the Catalan club who conducted the footballer's health check-up on Saturday.
Th. Vermaelen suffered a partial Achilles tendon injury during last year's World Cup match against Russia in Brazil, which Belgium won 1-0.
Despite this health issue, the player moved from London's "Arsenal" to "Barcelona" in August. The Catalan club paid 10 million euros for the defender.
However, the Belgian had to wait considerably for his debut in the new team.
Th. Vermaelen played in one friendly match with the "Barcelona" youth team and it seemed like the footballer would soon be ready to play for the elite team, but soon bleak news emerged.
At the end of November last year, "Barcelona" announced that the player would still have to undergo a surgery on his right hamstring. The footballer was operated on by surgeon Sakari Orava in the capital of Finland, Helsinki, and the rehabilitation process was supervised by "Barcelona" specialists in Catalonia.
It is believed that Th. Vermaelen will be able to appear on the field on Tuesday in the Spanish championship match against "Getafe".
