Tajikistan did not spare the Lithuanian futsal national team

In the final matches of the Continental Cup group stage taking place in Thailand, the Lithuanian men's futsal team lost 2:9 to Tajikistan, finishing fourth in the group and continuing their fight for the 7-8 positions. Vladimir Derendiajevas and Lukas Sendžikas scored goals for the team coached by Jevgenijus Ryvkin. Despite a solid performance at the beginning of the game, the easy goals scored by the opponents put the Lithuanians in despair. After playing almost seven minutes, the Tajikistan team took the lead, but shortly after a brilliant combination between Edgaras Baranauskas and V. Derendiajevo resulted in a beautiful goal. Tajiks continued to push forward halfway through the first half. Another frustrating situation occurred when a wide-open Lithuanian opponent near the goal corrected a ball kicked from a distance by a teammate. This was almost the last goal before half-time, with the final one coming after a counterattack.

With a two-goal deficit, Lithuanians started the second half very focused. Just a few seconds after the kick-off, Genaras Samsonikas took the ball in the middle of the field, outplayed the opponent's goalkeeper, but somehow, the Tajikistan defender managed to pull the ball out of the goal just in time. Shortly after, the goal difference increased to three, and J. Ryvkin replaced the goalkeeper with a fifth player. It served as a gift to the Tajiks, as they scored three goals into the empty net. Lithuania's second goal was scored at 5:1. Justinas Zagurskas then passed the ball to L. Sendžikas in the penalty area, and he headed it past the opponent's goalkeeper.

Despite the hard-fought victory against Egypt, unfortunately, the Lithuanians couldn't secure the third place in the group. Due to the worse goal difference, they were overtaken by today's victorious opponents.
