"Barcelona" officially announced on their website that team goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has agreed to extend his contract until 2022. The 25-year-old German national team goalkeeper joined the team in the Catalan capital in 2014. Ter Stegen had previously signed a contract with "Barca" until 2019, but after an excellent season as goalkeeper, the Catalans improved his contract terms and extended the agreement for three more years. The former Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper's contract will include an impressive buyout clause of 180 million euros. Ter Stegen was not the first choice goalkeeper for "Barcelona" in his first two seasons - he played in the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League tournaments, while Claudio Bravo guarded the nets in the Spanish league. However, after C. Bravo's departure, the German stepped up this season to become a solid first-choice goalkeeper and played 46 matches.
