Attacker Carlos Tevez denies coach Roberto Mancini's words that he refused to step onto the field in the Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
Mancini told journalists that the Argentine did not follow his decision to substitute a teammate in the second half, so he will no longer play in his team.
"There was confusion on the bench, so I think my position was misunderstood," said Tevez. "I want to apologize to all the Man City fans, with whom I have always had a strong connection, for this misunderstanding.
They understand that when I play, I always give my all for this club. On Tuesday in Munich, I did my warm-up and was ready. There's no need to delve into why the substitution didn't happen, but I certainly did not refuse to play."
And added: "In the future, I am ready to step onto the field and do my duty."
