On Monday, the board meeting of the upcoming season's "TOPsport A Lyga" took place at the LFF headquarters in Vilnius.
The team leaders discussed current issues of the upcoming season, one of which was the venues for matches.
The team representatives exchanged opinions, presented their positions, and a decision was made - not to hold "TOPsport A Lyga" matches at "Ateities" gymnasium in Telšiai, Gytarių square in Šiauliai, LFF Kaunas Training Center stadium in Kaunas, Širvintų city stadium, and "Žemyna" gymnasium square in Panevėžys.
A choice was made between two options - to make the upcoming season transitional and final, where the teams could still play in the respective squares and to introduce the restriction immediately.
"After long discussions, a difficult but necessary decision was made for the development of the league. We believe that such a decision will contribute to improving football infrastructure in different cities of Lithuania in the future," said LFF President Edgaras Stankevičius.
It was also confirmed that the general member meeting will take place on February 12, during which the league's statutes will be amended, the league budget will be approved, and a new league president will be elected.
