Ryan Giggs has proven that talented footballers can continue their career at the highest level much longer than predicted: the veteran signed a new one-year contract with the "Man Utd" club.
The 39-year-old Welshman will soon finish his 22nd season with the Manchester team. During this time, he has played 931 matches and scored 168 goals.
"Ryan is an example to all of us of how to take care of yourself," said coach Sir Alex Ferguson. "What can I say about him? Giggs is a wonderful footballer and a special person. It's amazing to see such energy on the field."
The winger has won the English championship 12 times, the FA Cup four times, and the English league cup three times. In addition, he has lifted the Champions League trophy twice.
Giggs represented the Wales national team 64 times.
