Saint Petersburg security Igor Denisov expressed outrage that newcomers Hulk and Axel Witsel earn more than local players from Russia.
"Why do newcomers get three times more than our team's best footballers? That's why I demanded an immediate raise in salary for myself," said the 28-year-old player.
However, the team reacted in the opposite way - rebels Denisov and Kerzhakov were sent to train with the reserve team.
"If Hulk and Witsel were at the level of Messi and Ronaldo, then it would be great, but unfortunately, that's not the case. So why did their arrival disrupt the team's salary structure? It's not just about money, but also about respect. I couldn't sleep for several nights when I heard the shocking news," Denisov said.
