At UEFA.com website, fans from all over the world could recently vote for their best Team of the Year.
A total of 8.8 million fans participated in the website's poll. Visitors were able to select one player for each position and the player with the most votes was included in the team.
In the goalkeeper position, football veteran Gianluigi Buffon received the most votes, after leading Turin's Juventus to the UEFA Champions League final last season.
The defensive duo consists of the usual quartet - Dani Alves (PSG/Juventus), Sergio Ramos (Real), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), and Marcelo (Real).
In the midfield position, two indistinguishable members of Real Madrid club were chosen: Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos. They are accompanied by Kevin De Bruyne in impressive athletic form this season from Man City, and also by Eden Hazard from Chelsea.
In the attack, arguably the most impressive duo - Cristiano Ronaldo (Real) and Lionel Messi (Barcelona) were chosen. There was no place in the lineup for another prominent football star - Neymar.
