On Tuesday, the magazine announced that receiving a remarkable 49.6% of the votes, Bremen defender Diego became the best player of the first half of the season. In second and third places were his teammates Miroslav Klose and Torsten Frings, garnering 32.7% and 4.1% of the votes, respectively.
Forwards M. Klose and Marko Pantelic, each scoring 10 goals, share the first and second places in the list of most effective players. Diego is fourth, having managed to direct the ball into the opponents' net 8 times.
"Werder Bremen" is leading the top German league after 17 matches, collecting 36 points. The impressive performance of the team this season was greatly contributed by Diego, who arrived from "Porto."
Robert Enke of the "Hannover" team was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the first half of the season, with another "Werder" player Tim Wiese in second place, and Dortmund's "Borussia" goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller in third place.
