FIFA on Friday announced that the best player of the group stage of the 2014 World Cup was chosen as the leader of the Colombian national team, James Rodriguez.
The 22-year-old footballer stood out in all three matches scoring once each time and thus contributed to the team's qualification for the quarter-finals. The Monaco club winger also made two assists for his teammates.
FIFA compiled ratings for each player, and the highest rating went to J.Rodriguez (9.79). Croatian Ivan Perisic (9.74), Brazilian David Luiz (9.69), French Karim Benzema (9.65), Dutch Arjen Robben (9.62), Belgian Daniel van Buyten (9.58), Swiss Xherdan Shaqiri (9.55), Brazilian Neymar (9.52), Brazilian Thiago Silva (9.5), and French Mamadou Sakho (9.47) are ranked lower.
Recall that the quarter-final matches in Brazil will start tomorrow and end on Tuesday.
