The bomb exploded near Besiktas stadium claimed 38 lives (updated)

Two hours after the clash between "Besiktas" and "Bursaspor" in Istanbul, an explosion occurred near the team's stadium, claiming the lives of 29 people and injuring 166 more. This information was reported by Turkey's Minister of Internal Affairs, Suleyman Soylu.

In the photos and TV footage, a burned-out car can be seen. According to Soylu, the target was a riot police bus. Most of the victims are indeed police officers.

Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus confirmed that one of the attacks was carried out by detonating a car, while another explosion was caused by a suicide attack.

During today's press conference, Soylu stated that among the 29 victims, two were civilians.

The Turkish Football Federation reacted to the events by condemning the attacks, and "Bursaspor" confirmed that their fans had left the stadium before the explosion.

The "Besiktas" club wrote on Twitter that "terrorism will never destroy the spirit, courage, and resilience of our people."

Updated at 10:44: according to the latest reports, the number of victims has now risen to 38.
