The captain of the Nigerian national team, Gernotas Rohras, revealed that their captain John Obi Mikel broke his forearm. Nevertheless, the coach hopes that the midfielder will be able to play in the crucial match against Argentina.
After securing a 2-0 victory against Iceland, the "super eagles" have excellent chances to advance to the World Cup quarter-finals - tomorrow they need to earn three more points or, in case of a draw, hope for an Icelandic defeat.
The Nigerian team has never defeated Argentina in the World Cup, so the captain's presence on the field would undoubtedly boost their confidence.
"Unfortunately, there is one injury," Rohras said in a video shared on Twitter. "We have a captain with a broken forearm, but I believe he will be able to play with the others."
"So, the medical team is working with him."
"Now we are preparing for the upcoming match against Argentina. We are focused on this game and will do everything to prepare this team as best as possible."
Obi Mikel has appeared in both Nigerian matches so far.
