The Football Federation of Romania has announced that it has disqualified "Astra" team coach Marius Sumudica for betting for the next six months. This team is currently leading in the Romanian league.
It is said that Sumudica has placed bets ranging from 500 to 900 euros on matches in the Romanian league, Champions League, Europa League and even the Romanian youth league, although betting on any matches is prohibited in this country. Despite this, betting is quite common in the country, and the "Astra" team publicly declared their support for their coach.
"This is an unfair punishment. We cannot blame him and we will do everything to defend him," - says an official statement from the club, which also emphasizes that the club will appeal the decision.
The team led by Sumudica not only leads the Romanian league this season, but also eliminated "West Ham United" club from further competition in the Europa League.
