After the unexpected defeat at home resulting in a 1-3 loss to Hungarian footballers in the qualification match for the 2008 European Championship, Bosnia and Herzegovina's head coach Blazas Sliskovičius resigned from his duties.

Considering that I had promised to win the first two matches, I feel that I have to resign," the strategist explained his decision after the match. "It's hard to step down after four years with the team, but the decision is final."

Bosnia and Herzegovina won the first qualification match in Malta 5-2, but on Wednesday lost to Hungary, which had previously lost 4-1 to Norway.

The 47-year-old B. Sliskovičius had been leading the team since 2002 and had a contract that was supposed to last for two more years.

Along with the national team coach, the national team director Ahmet Pasaličius also resigned from his duties.

In the qualification for the 2008 European Championship in Austria and Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina will compete against Norway, Hungary, Greece, Turkey, and Moldova.
