Today the coach of the Spanish national team, Luis Aragonesas, announced the preliminary squad for the upcoming matches against Lithuania and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2006 World Cup qualification in Germany.

The preliminary squad of 27 people, who will meet in Madrid on Monday, includes for the first time this year the impressive "Villarreal" goalkeeper Jose Reina. However, the talented 22-year-old Spaniard will have to fight for a place in the starting lineup against the much more famous Iker Casillas and Santiago Canizares.

The squad also includes "Liverpool" midfielder Xabi Alonso, who has already recovered from a foot injury, and another "Liverpool" Spaniard Luis Garcia maintained his place in the squad.

The preliminary squad also includes "Zaragoza" forward David Villa and "Espanyol" attacker Raul Tamudo, but it does not include Juano Carlos Valerono and the "Valencia" duo Miguel Mista and David Navarro.
